The Scillonian provides a reliable scheduled passenger ferry service between Penzance and Hugh Town, St Marys. The ship was purpose built for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company and launched in 1977. Capable of carrying up to 600 passengers, the ship was refurbished and refitted
in 1999 and offers comfortable reclining seats, a modern bar, excellent buffet
facilities and open air deck seating. The voyage from Penzance to Hugh Town, St
Marys takes just over two and a half hours and provides excellent scenic
views of the Cornish coast from Penzance and Newlyn to the Longships Lighthouse,
Lands End before you sail across the Atlantic to the clear blue waters of
Scilly.
The islands own airline, provides year round scheduled air service from Lands End Aerodrome and Newquay, complemented by its seasonal scheduled flights from the leading south west airports, Exeter, Bristol and Southampton. Operating 3 Britten Norman eight seat Islander aircraft as well as a nineteen seat De Havilland Twin Otter, Skybus flights offer a comfortable, convenient and direct service to the Isles of Scilly airport on St Marys. The Skybus Newquay service connects with flights from London Gatwick. Flights to Newquay are available to/from Stanstead with Ryanair and to/ from Gatwick with South West Airlines. The helicopter service to the Isles of Scilly has been operating for over 30 years. Over 2.4 million passengers have flown this route in the successful Sikorsky S61 helicopter, which has a spacious and attractively furnished cabin for up to 32 passengers. The route from Penzance Heliport to St. Mary's gives passengers panoramic views of both the rugged coastline and moorlands of West Cornwall out across Land's End and the seascape, which culminates in your arrival on the Isles of Scilly.
