There are no high street shops on Scilly apart from a couple of chain shops on St.Mary's such as the Co-op and Seasalt (Cornish label of cotton clothing). Shops here are small boutiques, own brand traders, gift and souvenir sellers and stalls offering local produce.
St.Mary's has a small town called Hugh Town and you will find the majority of stores here, although there are other small outlets across the smaller islands. Many shops now take cards but don’t take this for granted as cash is the most widely accepted tender. Stalls and even some galleries and rural shops will even operate with an honesty box, true testament to Scilly's wonderfully trusting society and outmoded customs that count towards its appeal to the modern traveller.
